Employment at CSUS There are times when Crystal Springs Uplands School finds itself looking for new teachers or staff. CSUS advertises such openings through search companies like Carney Sandoe and CalWest, via our institutional associations such as NAIS, and online with sites such as CraigsList.
When looking for teachers, CSUS tends to give preference to those applicants with advanced degrees, those with independent school experience, and those with a demonstrated love of their subject and the profession. CSUS thrives because of the great teaching already in place; when looking for new teachers, we hope to find those same skill sets that produce great teaching while igniting the thrill of learning in young people.
Reciprocally, CSUS supports its faculty and staff through a dynamic professional development program, including research grants, travel grants, assistance with the pursuit of advanced degrees and certification programs, membership in professional organizations and a variety of school-wide professional development opportunities. CSUS offers a generous compilation of medical and dental benefits, assists with the medical coverage of dependents and partners/spouses, and participates in the TIAA-CREF program of retirement benefits.
The best reason to consider employment at CSUS is the collegial environment. CSUS teachers and staff see themselves as part of a community of learners, supporting one another and assisting one another along our journeys. The students and parents are also part of this community. CSUS students are motivated and interested, and eager to discover what the world, and their teachers, has to teach them.
The hiring process typically begins in January. The hiring process usually entails a phone interview, school visit and sample class lesson, reference and background checks, and in-person interviews. CSUS often interviews potential candidates at the annual NAIS conference and at local job fairs. Interested candidates should contact the school with a resume and cover letter describing their interest and area(s) of expertise, and include a list of references.
CSUS is committed to equal opportunity for all employees and applicants. CSUS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental disability, medical condition, marital status, veteran status or any other condition made unlawful by federal, state or local laws. This policy applies to all areas of employment, including recruitment, hiring, training, promotion, compensation, benefits and other conditions of employment. |
