“I love the fact that I can freely explore so many activities at Crystal, especially the arts. I had only taken ballet before coming to this school, and now I’ve learned so many new genres of dance, including lyrical, contemporary, and jazz. I’ve also had the opportunity to choreograph my own piece--something that I’m currently working on. Additionally, I have practiced using so many more mediums in art. I had really only used traditional ones, such as oil, watercolor, and pencil before, but now I have experimented with Prismacolor markers as well as gouache, and I have even made 3D art with book pages at Crystal. It is actually so easy to try new things! In addition to the arts, I tried volleyball for the first time last year and, after practicing hard, I played libero for the team. I’ve learned a lot about the game as well as the importance of teamwork. Overall, the environment at Crystal has really let me grow into myself as an artist, athlete, academic, and as a person. The friends I’ve made here support me no matter what, and I know I’ll be able to trust them if anything happens. Between such a loving community and all the paths to explore, it’s hard not to take advantage of opportunities to discover myself and what I love."
