An Independent Day School for Grades 6-12
We strongly encourage participation in one or more of the middle school’s nine competitive teams for ALL students — novice and veteran alike. Focusing on skill development, teamwork and leadership, our Middle School athletics program prepares students to compete not only at the middle school level, but also provides a strong foundation for upper school athletics as well. Middle school teams become more selective across the three-year program and yet there’s always a team for every player. Middle school students may also choose physical education activities instead of competitive sports on a season-by-season basis.

  • Why so many middle school teams?

Teams become more selective and playing time philosophies shift throughout the Middle School program. The Athletics Department believes that each student will have more success when placed on the team that is most appropriate for their skill level and development. More team divisions within sports, allows for maximum playing time and a more positive experience for all of our Middle School Gryphons.
