Middle Schoolers Honor our Overseas Troops

Middle School Students continued an annual tradition of participating in a community service-learning project, “Treats for Troops,” celebrating Veterans Day. Project leader Rohan D '25 writes, "I started this project five years ago. Our school partnered with 'America Supporting Americans'...

...through the Hillsborough Adopt-A-Unit program, and we were paired with the 101st Airborne, Fort Campbell, KY.  My mom and grandfather are veterans. My mom was deployed to Afghanistan when I was one-year-old, and she received care packages from my aunt. She and her team were delighted and grateful when they received them."

"We write letters to the soldiers so that they find letters in their care packages, which uplift their spirits. Not only is this project significant to me because of my mom’s experience, but it also highlights the sacrifice of our American soldiers deployed overseas right now. While these men and women are helping to rebuild schools and communities, they need support and love, especially because of how COVID-19 has restricted care packages."

The letters written by our Middle Schoolers will accompany the care packages being sent in time for the holiday season.
