Quiz Bowl is no Trivial Matter
The Quiz Bowl Team won the 2017 Cal Classic Tournament this fall which means they are headed for national tournaments in the spring. The CSUS team is now ranked 14th in the nation! Justin F ‘18 was also chosen as a National Academic Quiz Tournament High School Player of the Week in November.
It was fitting that the our 39th Annual Knowledge Bowl followed fast on the heels of the team’s victory. The Knowledge Bowl is an all-Upper School event, in which grade-level teams of students compete against each other in one of the most festive celebrations of knowledge anywhere.
This year’s teams certainly benefited from the participation of several Quiz Bowl Team members. Faculty members submit questions which are curated and presented by our adroit host, Tom Woosnam. The Knowledge Bowl is a spectator sport and elicits a rather raucous reaction from the audience who play along and cheer on their classmates. The students even bested the faculty--a rare occurrence, but in keeping with the caliber of this year’s level of student knowledge.
