Sharp Park Beach Clean-up
On a recent Community Engagement day, 24 ninth graders went to Sharp Park Beach in Pacifica to help clean up the parking areas, pier, and other public spaces. With the help of representatives from the Pacifica Beach Coalition, they sorted all of the trash and recyclables they collected, including over 700 cigarette butts!
Many students left the event feeling keenly aware of how much plastic is used in our daily lives and were moved when the representatives showed them pictures of how harmful all of the trash is to animals in our neighborhoods. While there are currently no plans for a return trip this year, several students plan to join Pacifica Beach Coalition's Earth Day cleanup event on April 21. View photos.
