Graduation Requirements

Crystal Springs Upper School students exceed the University of California A-G requirements by fulfilling the graduation requirements of the CSUS curriculum.

ENGLISH: 4 years of English, one taken each year
  • English I
  • English II
  • Honors English III
  • Honors English IV
ENGLISH:  4 years required
HISTORY: 3 years (including World and U.S. History)
  • Comparative Cultures or European History
  • U.S. History
  • One other history course (full year or two semesters)
HISTORY/SOCIAL SCIENCE: 2 years required, including one year of world history, cultures and geography; and one year of U.S. history or one-half year of U.S. history and one-half year of civics or American government.
LANGUAGE: Through Level III of World Language (with a minimum of two years of consecutive WL taken in high school)
  • Spanish or French I
  • Spanish or French II
  • Spanish or French III
LANGUAGE other than English: 2 years required, 3 years recommended. Two years of the same language other than English.
MATHEMATICS: Through Level III (at least three years in high school recommended)
  • Math I
  • Math II

MATHEMATICS: 3 years required, 4 years recommended
Note: Astronomy counts as a lab science at CSUS, but not for UC’s where it is considered a college prep elective
LABORATORY SCIENCE: 2 years required, 3 years recommended.
Two years of laboratory science providing fundamental knowledge in two of these three core disciplines: biology, chemistry and physics.
ARTS: 2 years of Fine Arts (one full year of UC-approved fine arts) ARTS: Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) – 1 year required.
A single year-long approved arts course from a single VPA discipline: dance, drama/theater, music or visual art.
COLLEGE QUEST (not for credit)
3 years (for credit but ungraded)
SENIOR PROJECT (not for credit)
