Hosted by CSUS Parent Association's Partners in Education (PIE), this event features practicing psychotherapist and bestselling author Lee Daniel Kravetz will discuss his book, Strange Contagion - Inside the Surprising Science of Infectious Behaviors & Viral Emotions.

Why is the Bay Area considered a hot spot for teen suicide and what can be done to combat it?  Lee will present his research and findings around the effects of social phenomena on teens, specifically teens growing up in Silicon Valley, the positive and negative “contagions” - ideas, emotions and actions - that can either protect or harm any of us, and the responsibility of parents and the community to interrupt negative contagions.

Kravetz holds an M.A. in psychology and completed a post-graduate fellowship at Stanford. He is a local, practicing psychotherapist, and the author of Supersurvivors and, more recently, Strange Contagion.  His work has been translated into ten languages. He has written for print and TV, including the NYT, Psychology Today, The San Francisco Chronicle, and PBS, and has been featured in Time Magazine, the Harvard Business Review, and Fast Company.
