Students in Spanish II discussed the origins of Carnival, how it relates to Mardi Gras, and the different ways these holidays are celebrated throughout the world. In particular, they focused on the Carnaval de Baranquila of Colombia, which is one of the largest festivals of dance and cultural pageantry in Latin America.
One of our longest and most treasured traditions, Lip Sync 2018 made a splash in numerous ways. It was our first time splitting the performances between the Upper and Middle School, though the 8th grade visited the Upper School and performed their lip sync there.

Family members and friends were invited to join Upper School students on Monday, January 29 to experience a "typical" day of classes. Whether it was visiting a mindfulness class in the Gryphon Center or solving problems in math, our guests were able to experience a snapshot of what life is like as a Crystal student.
Crystal VA girls opened the season with a bang, defeating St. Matt’s 32-11! The Crystal cagers dominated both ends of the floor. On the offensive side, the Gryphons employed great ball movement, strong rebounding and sharp outside shooting to load up the scoreboard. Solid, tenacious D held the Mustangs in check all night.
