Junior to Represent USA at International Fencing Competition

Crystal junior Charlotte H ’21 is headed to fence in a Designated Cadet Fencing Event in Godollo, Hungary. Countries from all over the world will send their top fencers to compete and Charlotte will represent the USA.

Based on national/international results the USA, will send their best 20 fencers with Charlotte coming in at 17th overall, and 8th in her class.

Fencing has provided many opportunities Charlotte, as she has already traveled to 30 states, and competed in numerous international events at the cadet level. She has already fenced in Germany and Austria, and will compete this weekend in Hungary, and then Bulgaria in November.

For Charlotte, the fencing time commitment is worth it; she is no stranger to time management. “I practice five days a week with my fencing club. It definitely takes some work with the balancing of school work, fencing, and other stuff; but once you get used to it, it is certainly manageable. It’s really important to learn this skill as I am planning to fence in college.”

Charlotte and her family will visit universities with some of the best college fencing programs in the nation. “They have quite a few great programs around the country, I sincerely hope to be able to continue fencing for as long as I can -- through college and beyond. It would also be an honor to continue representing Team USA to compete worldwide.”
