9th Graders Explore Diversity

An annual tradition for CSUS freshmen, Diversity Day is an upper-level student designed and led, day-long experience for 9th grade students. Throughout the day, students engage in activities and discussions that allow them to examine their own visible and hidden identities...

...consider how power and privilege operate in their lives and our community, build empathy and understanding for their classmates, and practice ways to make connections across differences. Student leaders also facilitate workshop-style classes on race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomics, religion, family structure and ability in order to build awareness about identity and intersectionality. Ultimately, this day opens the door for important conversations about identity and provides a unique opportunity for the class of 2020 to grow. View more photos>>
