Scholarship on Display at Knowledge Bowl

On Tuesday 11/28, Tom Woosnam moderated the 39th Annual Knowledge Bowl with teams answering questions curated from the faculty. The freshman team, The Freshies, displayed bravery to compete against more learned upperclassmen; they brought the crowd to its feet each time they scored. In another twist to this year's event, a student team beat the faculty team!

Although they didn't win the round, The Freshies scored points against senior heavyweights, some of whom are nationally-ranked Quiz Team members. The cheers from the crowd each time The Freshies scored were evidence of how generous and supportive our students can be for those who take risks and put themselves out there.

It doesn't happen often, but this year's crop of players included some of the best trivia students in the school’s history. In fact, one of the winning team members, Justin F '18, was recently recognized as the National Academic Quiz Tournament Player of the Week. His team, Arms Arms Arms beat out the teachers featuring his erudite coach, chemistry teacher Keith Karraker.
