Lip Sync 2018

One of our longest and most treasured traditions, Lip Sync 2018 made a splash in numerous ways. It was our first time splitting the performances between the Upper and Middle School, though the 8th grade visited the Upper School and performed their lip sync there.

Also, the Middle Schoolers got to see the entire US Lip Sync on video right after their own performance.

Middle School Review
Expansion Hall was electric with great energy and enthusiasm from all groups! The 6th grade were on point with great choreography and syncing with Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk. The 7th grade performed a medley of their favorite childhood hits which led them to victory. The 8th graders were innovative with a basketball-themed skit that even included the "National Anthem." Our mostly new Middle School faculty brought old-school vibes to the new school with pop hits from the 80s and 90s, but also with a nod to contemporary viral memes.

Upper Schoolers be warned:  The Middle Schoolers have Lip Sync swagger and they're coming your way!

Upper School Review
Our first Freshman class of 90+ students brought some serious Lip Sync chops to their medley of hits which earned them a 2nd place victory. Sophomores spoofed last year's Lip Sync with a particular nod to the Seniors who always seem to win, no matter what. Juniors had some of the best choreography with their tribute to Rihanna. The Seniors stole the show (and yes, the win) with a Glee-inspired medley featuring recordings from the hit TV show, including a show-stopping "Don't Stop Believin!"

It was the Upper School faculty, though, who had us on our feet with a take-off of the opening scene of La La Land featuring bored commuters stuck in traffic who spontaneously burst into song and dance. We witnessed some of the best faculty dancing ever, with a special shout-out to Cindy Shanholt '74 who made a splash in her final Crystal Lip Sync which she performed both as a student and as a beloved teacher for 24 years.
