Girls Varsity Soccer Starts Strong

The girls took some time to get into game mode; however, once they started connecting passes, it was clear that Crystal was the stronger team. CSUS scored the first goal in the 17th minute, with freshman Naila N scoring from a pass by freshman Camille L. The second CSUS goal came from an own goal by Mercy’s defender trying to clear the call, in the 35th minute.

CSUS’s third goal came in the 37th minute by junior Marlena B finishing a cross from freshman Reilly S. CSUS’s fourth and last goal of the first half came in the 39th minute from Camille L, assisted by freshman Kathryn K.

The second half started well with a goal in the 66th minute, scored by Camille L and assisted by senior Sophie M. The sixth goal came in the 69th minute by Marlena B, assisted by Reilly S. Crystal's final goal was again scored by Marlena B (giving her a hat trick), assisted by junior Alyssa D, in the 78th minute. Coached by Luisa Monterossa, the team has had a strong start to the season and they hope to continue this trajectory. Go Gryphons!
